The answer, with the useful detail.

VLC for Android offers a playback-history clearing action. Use that narrower control when the goal is to remove recent viewing entries rather than erase the entire application configuration. Review the history preference afterward if you do not want future playback added to the same list. Choose the local history action for a local history goal. It can remove convenience entries without deleting the media itself, while future recording of activity and records held by other services require their own relevant controls.

Match the action to the goal

Clearing recent entries is different from deleting media files, clearing all app data or uninstalling VLC. Choose the control that corresponds to the information you want removed. Review the action's label and confirmation screen before proceeding, distinguishing playback history from media-library rescan or application-data reset. Recent network entries can include private source information, so a history cleanup can be useful on a shared device. It does not necessarily erase downloaded media, original playlist files or account-bearing backups stored elsewhere, and those locations should be reviewed separately if relevant to the task.

Review future collection

Removing existing history does not necessarily disable saving new history. Check the relevant preference rather than assuming one cleanup changes future behaviour. After clearing the existing list, inspect whether the playback-history preference remains enabled. If the household wants future entries omitted, use the supported preference and verify its behaviour with a harmless item. A cleanup is a point-in-time deletion of local entries; it should not be treated as a permanent privacy setting unless the relevant option for future history has also been changed.

Consider other records

The provider, operating system or other applications can maintain separate records. Clearing VLC’s local history does not prove that every related record has been removed elsewhere. Identify where the information was actually stored before making claims about removal. A provider account, network server, operating system or another player can retain its own activity or recent-item information. VLC's local control governs VLC's own supported history scope. If transferring the device, follow the wider manufacturer reset and account-removal process rather than assuming a single history action removes every household credential and private file.

An example to work through

A viewer can remove recent VLC entries while leaving audio preferences and local media files intact. Review whether new playback should continue to enter that history list. If broader account or file removal is intended, inspect those separate locations and controls rather than using a full app reset as an automatic substitute for the narrower cleanup.

Questions about this topic

Does clearing history delete my videos?

It is intended to clear history, not the media files themselves.

Does it erase provider-side account records?

No. Local app history and provider records are separate.
