Accessibility

The answer, with the useful detail.

A remote-controlled interface needs a visible, predictable focus path. If arrow keys skip essential controls or trap focus, that is a usability problem independent of streaming bandwidth. Test navigation with the actual remote rather than relying only on touch or a mouse. Use the remote alone to test the essential journey and note where the visible focus goes after each action. A selectable button that cannot be reached predictably from the current position is a navigation barrier even if it works when clicked with a pointer.

Watch focus visibility

The selected item should be identifiable without guessing. Move through a row, into another section and into playback, checking that the selected item has a clear border, shape or other recognizable indication. Focus should remain identifiable against varied backgrounds and at the usual viewing distance. If it disappears after scrolling, note the last visible item and the next key pressed. Do not press many extra directions before recording the failure, since that makes the starting state and actual focus movement harder to reproduce.

Check return paths

Back should provide a sensible way out of dialogs. Open search, track selection and any confirmation dialog, then test the documented back or close action. Check whether focus returns to the control that opened the dialog or lands somewhere sensible. A trapped dialog can block the viewing task even when its individual buttons are labeled. Keep power and factory-reset actions separate from ordinary navigation recovery; repeatedly restarting the device may escape the screen without identifying the missing return path inside the application.

Describe repeatable steps

A precise sequence helps an app developer reproduce the fault. Write the smallest repeatable sequence, including the starting screen, selected item and remote directions. Describe the expected destination and the actual focus result, with a safe screenshot if the visible highlight is missing or unclear. A mouse workaround can help temporarily but does not demonstrate that the TV interface works with its primary input. Report the app and device versions so the developer can inspect that exact focus transition rather than a vague account or network symptom.

An example to work through

A row of posters works, but the subtitle button cannot be reached by the remote. Pressing down from a programme row moves focus into an invisible element, and further remote presses never reach the next row. A pointer can still click the cards, but the recorded remote sequence identifies a specific focus-path defect that ordinary mouse-based testing would miss.

Questions about this topic

Does a mouse workaround prove fullTV support?

No. A TV interface needs its own usable remote path through essential tasks.

Will changingDNS fix focus?

No. Focus movement is an application interaction issue rather than address-resolution behavior.
