A guide time of 23:45 on 28 October and an expected time of 00:15 on 29 October are thirty minutes apart. The expected time is later, so the calculation is +30 minutes. Reading the clock values without their dates would produce the wrong result. Check the player’s offset convention before applying the number.
Keep the dates attached
Midnight changes the date, not just the hour display. In this example there are fifteen minutes from 23:45 to midnight and another fifteen to 00:15. Together they make thirty minutes. Entering both as the same date would incorrectly suggest a shift of almost an entire day in the opposite direction.
Check the clocks before shifting data
First check the device date, local time and timezone. Then establish whether the guide timestamps already include an offset that the player converts. A wrong device timezone and a guide offset are different problems. Applying an extra correction before checking them can make one channel look right while moving others away from their proper times.
Use one correction and verify its direction
Some interfaces describe a shift as moving the displayed programme time; others describe correcting the source time. Read the control’s wording and try a small, reversible change. Compare a known guide entry after the change. Do not apply the same correction both globally and inside a provider or channel setting unless that combination is deliberately required.
A uniform shift is different from a missing programme
An offset is useful when the relevant entries are consistently displaced by the same amount. It cannot restore missing listings, fix mismatched channel identifiers or account for every schedule change. If the error differs between channels, note two examples with dates and timezones rather than forcing one offset onto the entire guide.

An example to work through
For 28 October 2026 at 23:45 and 29 October 2026 at 00:15, the expected-minus-guide result is +30 minutes. This is a time calculation, not confirmation of an actual programme schedule or a particular channel’s availability.
Questions about this topic
Should I enter minus thirty instead?
Only if the player defines its correction in that direction. The tool’s calculation is expected time minus displayed guide time.
Will an offset fill an empty guide?
No. Missing data and consistently shifted data need different checks.
