An M3U import normally takes a playlist file or one complete playlist URL. An Xtream-style login normally separates the service address, username and password into three fields. They can describe access to the same service, but the input screens expect different things. Start with the format supplied for your account and the options your player actually offers.
Read the field labels
A field called playlist URL expects the whole supplied address, including its path and query. A server field usually expects the service base address rather than a playlist download endpoint. A profile name is usually only a local label. It is not a replacement for your service username.
Keep the supplied format intact
Do not remove parameters simply because an address looks long. They may identify the account or requested output. If you only received one format, ask support whether the other is available instead of constructing undocumented endpoints. Different services and players use different conventions.
Separate access from app activation
Paying for a player or entering its activation code does not create a streaming subscription. Keep the app licence, service login and local parental PIN as separate records. That separation makes a rejected-login message much easier to resolve.

An example to work through
A supplied address such as https://example.invalid/list.m3u belongs in a playlist URL field. It should not be pasted into a username field. This example is deliberately nonfunctional.
Questions about this topic
Can every player use both methods?
No. Available import methods depend on the player and its version.
Does switching format add more channels?
Not by itself. Account access and catalogue configuration remain service decisions.
