HTTP and HTTPS are different URL schemes. HTTPS adds transport encryption when the server is configured correctly. Changing the letters in a supplied service address does not create HTTPS support, and downgrading an address can expose account details in transit. Request a supported secure endpoint rather than improvising one.
Use the endpoint the service supports
A server may listen for different protocols on different ports. A scheme mismatch can fail before account verification begins. Preserve the full supplied address and ask support when the available instructions use an insecure connection.
Understand what encryption does
Transport encryption protects data between the client and the contacted server. It does not establish content rights, guarantee the honesty of the service, or protect secrets after they are stored in an app or shared in a screenshot.
Keep warnings visible
Certificate errors and unexpected redirects deserve investigation. Do not disable validation merely to make a login proceed. A corrected hostname or certificate is a better resolution than teaching every device to ignore the warning.
